This is the one beat I've had most emcees want to rhyme over when playing it for people. Chaundon took it to the next level with the story of how he came into the rap game on some battling shit. We did 3 songs together, 2 of which will be featured on my album. "Ambitions Of A Writer" is the third album leak so far and is featured on the new cover CD of Germany's biggest selling hiphop magazine Juice.

"Where We Go" feat. Khryst, Oddisee and Prince Po

I had an idea of recording a hook and basing the theme of the song on that, so I talked to D.V. alias Khryst, a phenomenal singer/emcee whom I'd already worked with on "I'm Serious". I wanted to approach this new song in a different way and asked him to write a hook for it just from hearing the beat. He came up with this:

"I don't know which way to go/when it's your time to go you go/when your number gets called or so/'cos when it's your time to fold you fold/we don't know where we go... we don't know where we go..."

This really set a deep tone for the song and my first thought was to pair Ill Bill with Billy Danze (M.O.P.). A song about life and death with these cats would make for an interesting collaboration. But unfortunately it didn't happen. I also talked to Masta Ace about it, but he was hesitant to write about death and politely declined.

Having already worked with legendary Organized Konfusion emcee Prince Po on the song "She Gave Me The World" I knew how talented and on point he was at writing concept songs so I asked him to write another verse for my album. He took his lyrics to a personal level unheard of so far and I was very impressed and happy that he became a part of it.

Back in 2006 Oddisee and his girlfriend came to Denmark on his first European tour, and he had contacted me through Myspace to hook up a place to sleep while in Copenhagen. As a fan of his music and an openminded person I invited him and his girl to crash on my couch for a few days while in town, and we kicked a lot of good hiphop conversations during those couple of days. I'm very impressed by Oddisee's emcee and beatmaking skills, and the way he arranged his own tour through Europe, man, that took a lot of networking and perseverance. The dude has a serious passion for music! We agreed that he would eventually mix one of my beats if I ever needed it, and instead I now suggested he kick a verse for the song with Prince Po, and he was game. Oddisee sent me one of the dopest verses I have ever heard from him and it fit the song perfectly. Definitely one of my favorite cuts on the album.

The song title is "Where We Go" and the beat is on some other shit. Stay tuned.

DJ Doo Wop aka. Da Bouncemasta

DJ Doo Wop is probably best known for his many classic mixtapes in the 90s, where he featured legendary New York emcees like Busta Rhymes, Redman, Mobb Deep, AZ, Big Daddy Kane, Raekwon, MOP, KRS-One, Q-tip, Big Pun and many more. He's also been known to spit a hot verse or two on his own tapes and through his Diaz Brothers teamup with Tony Touch. Rumor has it the duo is releasing an album later this year. Doo Wop definitely holds it down on the mic as well as the turntables. After hearing his verses on Pete Rock's "Let's Go" and seing him live on tour with Guru, I contacted him through his Myspace Profile to record a song for my album. The collaboration went extremely well, it was obvious that Doo Wop has a genuine passion for real hiphop. The song is titled "Da Bouncemasta" and the beat won a beatmaking competition here in Copenhagen back in 2007.

How I Got Hustled By The Cab Driver Rapper

He used to be known as Cappachino The Great and spit fire on the mic like his infamous verse on "Winter Warz" from Ghostface's "Ironman" album:

...but these days he is better known for driving tourists around New York in a yellow cab busting the occasional verse here and there. Nothing wrong with that, he's got a big family to feed from what I hear, but the dude and I made a deal of him recording a song of two verses for my album, and he didn't deliver. It started as a Myspace correspondence back and forth negotiating the price. Cappa also told me about his new baby and how he's not rich like The Rza and drives a taxi cab. After agreeing on a price he asked me to talk to his manager Honor also going by the exotic AOL name IronShiek7000 who would take care of the business side of things... Mind you, I never willingly transfer the full amount of money upfront! Normally I pay half upfront and the rest once I receive the vocals. But here, Cappa wrote me the following email...

"ok lets do this .... do u have yahoo messenger or aim? if you do my mgr will work everythging out with you his yahoo is HONORMANAGEMENT and his aim is IRONSHIEK7000 now im saying this up front before we get started i need the full payemnt and the music upfront for the simple fact cause the last time i did this with someone from europe they didnt pay me and i went to the studio and did the work for this dude named cop killa (note: contained a link to his blog which doesn't work anymore) so thats why i require the money upfront and i will have the song back to you in 48hrs (2 days) with vocals seperated and everything you need let me know if that is ok and trust me brother i will not cheat you in the name of allah!!!!!!!!!"

...And somehow I decided to trust the guy, probably still high off the success I'd experienced with the other collaborations thus far. I remember transferring the money by Western Union directly to Darryl Hill (Cappa) in Park Hill, Staten Island. After nothing happened for several weeks I complained to both Shiek and Cappadonna directly and when I finally got a chat reply from Shiek on AOL, he told me that he wasn't managing Cappadonna anymore and that he'd been hustled too... No doubt a lie. I'd been bamboozled. Some will say it comes with the territory, I say bad form Cappa be warned other producers out there. The collaborations went well with all the other emcees I worked with...

I had already recorded a solo song with Pace Won for the album ("Things I Need") when I decided to let these two old buddies of Eminem go toe to toe. I wanted to create a classic battle song between them with Noize building his signature sentenses around the title of the song which in this case is the two numbers added up. I give him a lot of credit for the creative chorus he came up with.

The way the song happened was, Mic G was out here in Denmark to perform and got a hold of a beat cd from Danish emcee J-Spliff. My beat was on the cd since I had given it to Spliff earlier for a song. I don't know why he put that particular beat on the cd, but Mic obviously digged it, recorded his own song over it and put it up on his Myspace page.

By chance I stumbled upon the song and heard my beat underneath his vocals. At first I was shocked that my joint had been used without me knowing, but on the other hand it sounded great and Mic G is a legendary Queens emcee. I got in touch with him and his manager, and Mic explained how he had tried to find the creator of the beat but couldn't. He gave me credit on his Myspace page and we agreed that I could put the song on my album.

About a year later Radio DJ Peter Rosenberg plays it on his "Late Night" show on HOT 97 in New York and Mic G wants to release it as a 12" single, but the vocals were never sent to me. So what you hear is the exact version of the song he recorded over my demo beat tweaked by sound engineer extraordinaire Anders Schumann at C4 Studios.

FYI: Check Mic Geronimo's cell phone going off a couple times during the session.

Juice Magazine Cover CD feature

KVBeats feat. Chaundon "Ambitions Of A Writer" will be featured on the cover CD of Germany's biggest selling hiphop publication Juice with a print of 60.000 copies. Check for the March issue with a street date of April 16th!

Chaundon is probably best known for his connection to popular underground act Little Brother and The Justus League. This song is about him making his way up in the music business with all the ups and downs he faces along the way. I've been checking for Chaundon since I heard a couple of songs on his Myspace back in 2006 where he flips topics over classic J Dilla Donuts ("Strap", "Want Me Back"). Chaundon has got a serious talent for story telling and an equally professional work ethic. He wrote two of the best and most meaningful songs on my album.

...I'm in the final stages of completing my long-time-in-the-making debut producer album titled "The Résumé". I've been producing and collecting my best beats for it since way back in 2005 and got the first song done back in December 2007 featuring Slum Village "We Do It". I've had no one to help me with the hook ups, almost all contact was made thru Myspace. I haven't yet figured out if I'll release the album myself or license it to an independent label. Either way will work out.

The plan is to drop some exclusive background stories and tracks from the album right here for your enjoyment and spread the word before the release
